An official from the department informed that “Momo challenge” is being viral through popular messaging app WhatsApp among the children.
He said that the game inspires children to add a contact on WhatsApp named ‘Momo’. After which, an image of a horror Japanese doll appears on the profile picture and at the same time the dangerous challenge begins.
The game controller then entices the children to a series of dangerous tasks. He also threatens the children saying that he knows everything about them and if they do not do according to what he says, then he will kill them alive.
He also added that this game has a profound impact on the minds of the children and they seem to accept it as real. As a result, they are easily trapped in the game and take suicidal steps.
The official informed that the challenge is sparking its terror among the citizens especially children across the globe including Chhattisgarh. It is very important to spread awareness among the parents as the children can get easily trapped in such challenges.
The official also gave a brief about the precautionary measures to be taken by parents and children. He said that if you’re a kid and use Facebook or WhatsApp then you must be aware of this and bock such user immediately if found. If they try to provoke you to play, then inform this to your parents.
If you are a parent then you must keep an eye on your child’s behaviour and assure them that they can share their troubles with you. Parents must keep a check on the child’s phone and if found anything suspicious then immediately reports it.
