Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat administered an oath for compulsory voting in upcoming elections to more than six thousand youth during “Matdan Dipotsav”

Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: Under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), a voter awareness campaign titled “Matdan Dipotsav” was organized by Raipur Smart City in the state capital on Thursday evening. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) OP Rawat administered pledge to the participants for using their right to vote.
More than six thousand youth from across the city including students of schools and colleges, NGO workers, youth from Livelihood College along with the city folks participated in the campaign.
The campaign was organized at Marine Drive/Telibandha Lake here under banner ‘Mor Raipur Mor Vote’ as a part of Election Commission of India’s (ECI’s) Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.
CEC OP Rawat inaugurated the campaign by lighting the lamp. After which he administered an oath to the youth, students and city folks present there for using their right to vote and cast votes in the upcoming elections without any fear and without falling into any allurement.
Later OP Rawat initiated the lightening lamps ceremony after which more than six thousand youths lighted lamps across the lake pavement to deliver the message of compulsory voting to the citizens in the upcoming assembly polls.
Various other electoral awareness programs including a street play by Mor Raipur Club were held during the campaign. Besides, a voting zone was created at the venue where the voting process through EVM and VVPAT was demonstrated by the department officials.
OP Rawat also witnessed and appreciated Rangolis made by children with disabilities to spread electoral awareness. A handicapped student Bappa Rao presented a portrait of OP Rawat made by him.
