City student startup to participate in “University Startup Worldcup”

Raipur: Nearfit, a student start-up from the state capital has been selected as one of the three finalist teams representing India in “University Startup Worldcup” which is going to be held in Copenhagen in the first week of October.  
Six students from renowned institutes of Chhattisgarh founded Nearfit which is an online aggregator of fitness centers. They partner up with various fitness centers and offer fitness passes to customers in both the online and offline format along with an online software called “Galaxy CRM”.
CEO of Nearfit Priyanjit Ghosh said fitness is a global issue and not only something confined in India only. We believe that the business which we have is scalable and can also be implemented at a global level.
“Participating in such a global level competition will give us the right platform for us to take it to global investors and also know about the possibility in global markets”, he said.  
Gosh said such competitions provides a great opportunity for business and management students like us to implement what we have studied in the real world and develop new skills.

The start-up recently got incubated in state-run incubator 36inc. Nearfit has made more than 30 associations with fitness centers across Raipur. They also organized Raipur’s first ever water polo tournament in the city this month. 

The University Startup World Cup is organized by Venture Cup, a Danish non-profit organization. In this, 50 teams from across the globe compete about having the next great idea within relevant topics as set by the organizers.
The vision of the competition is to create a network among international students in which they can be inspired, benchmark their ideas and turn academic knowledge into viable high-growth businesses.
