Tribals from interiors traveled long distances to cast vote

Chhattisgarh Times
Raipur: Defying threats of Maoists and landmines, tribals from the interiors of Sukma and Dantewada district of Bastar division marched long distances more than ten kilometers crossing rivers and dense forests to exercise their franchise.
People from interiors areas including badly Maoist-affected regions of jhiram ghati and Bheji came to cast their votes even after threat from Maoists to cut their fingers if the inedible ink mark is seen on their fingers. A villager said that we woke up early in the morning and gathered together and trekked down to the polling booth in order to strengthen the democracy of the state by casting our votes.
Polling for the first time after 15 years was held in Pulam Adugu of Sukma district where about 44 people exercised their franchise.
