60ft Rangoli to spread electoral awareness

Raipur: Under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, a 60 feet Rangoli was created at the high school ground in Mahasamund district to spread electoral awareness.
A ‘matdaan mela’ and awareness programme was organized on Tuesday in the district by the district SVEEP committee. Various activities including Rangoli making competition and cultural programmes related to voting were organized. Students and teachers from various schools and colleges across the district participated in the activities for spreading electoral awareness among the voters.
The gigantic Rangoli became center of attraction for the visitors. More than six hundred students, teachers, Anganwadi workers and many other people from different organizations of the district participated in the Rangoli making and created a huge circular Rangoli of 60ft in the ground.
District Nodal Officer Dr. Malti Tiwari said that a mono of SVEEP plan was created in an area of 30 meters in the center of Rangoli. The huge Rangoli consisted of as many as 114 blocks in which small Rangolis were made with slogans and pictures giving a message of compulsory voting in the upcoming elections. The outer area of the Rangoli was for the citizens of the district. Many citizens enthusiastically participated and made attractive Rangolis.
After the completion, a green LED string light was spread across the Rangoli which was lit up after sunset to make the Rangoli more attractive. Besides, certificates were awarded to the winners of Rangoli competition.
The students actively participated in cultural activities and sung self-composed songs related to voter awareness. They gave dance performances as well on the songs related to voting. The students also gave the message of compulsory voting using slogan charts and signboards. The SVEEP officers appealed the electorates of the district to cast their votes on November 20.
