Election Commission declares dates for Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, Model Code of Conduct implemented with immediate effect

Raipur:The election commission on Friday announced the dates for the upcoming elections in five states,drawing curtains on the various assumptions made by people regarding the same.
Chhattisgarh will be voting in two phases with naxal affected Bastar and it’s adjoining areas comprising 18 assembly seats going to polls on the 12th of November and for the rest 72 seats 20th November has been fixed as poll date. Nomination papers can be filed from 23rd October and 2nd November, withdrawal of names till 26th October and 5th November for 1st and 2nd phase respectively.
Meanwhile other states of Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram on the 28th November whereas Rajasthan and Telengana on the 7th of December will go to polls as decided by the commission, counting will be carried out on the 11th of December.
With election commission announcing the dates for the forthcoming elections model code of conduct  has been enforced with immediate effect  wherein political parties are barred from doing any type of activities which discriminates society on the basis of either caste ,creed or religion. The Chief Minister or any of his cabinet colleagues are restricted from making any new decision which may affect the electoral system and the ruling government as a whole including the administration should work accordingly as per the guidelines set by the election commission. At the expense of government fund no such work may be carried out which may benefit any political party,stone laying foundation ceremony or dedicating any infrastructural work and programme to the public should be refrained by the government.
 To conduct any political rally, procession or gathering the concerned party should take prior police permission and should not intervene or create any untoward incidents  thereby hampering the aspirations of other political parties.
These salient features of the model code of conduct should be obeyed by all political parties to ensure a free and fair democratic poll process.
