Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi’s death created a void in literature and journalism says Chief Minister Raman Singh

Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: Padmasri awardee and First Chairperson of Chhattisgarh Rajya Bhasha Ayog (Official Language Commission) Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi passed away at a private hospital in his hometown Bilaspur today morning. Born at Kotmi Sonar village in the year 1926, Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi was first Chairperson of Chhattisgarh Rajya Bhasha Ayog (Official Language Commission) He worked as a journalist in various renowned newspapers at Bilaspur. Besides, he worked for the prohibition of liquor in the state.The State Government had awarded ‘Best Panchayat ‘award to the gram panchayat in the then undivided Bilaspur district. He had started wearing khadi under the influence of Mahatma Gandhi. He passed M.A. privately. His writings ‘Bholwa Bholaram Banis’ and ‘Parra Bar Lahee’ are among the most popular. He received many prestigious awards during the course of his illustrious career spanning several decades. Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi was honored with Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Rajya Alankaran on the occasion of ‘Rajyotsav’ in 2004. He was awarded ‘Padmasri’ by the Union Government on April two this year in New Delhi. President Ramnath Kovind in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had felicitated Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi with ‘Padmashree’ in New Delhi. In his condolence message, Chief Minister Raman Singh said that with the demise of Pandit Chaturvedi, Golden Era in journalism and literature had come to an end. Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi in his seven- decade-long career had enriched the Chhattisgarhi and Hindi literature with his brilliant writings and illuminated the folk culture and folk literature. Singh said that Chaturvedi’s contributions to the fields of Chhattisgarh literature and cultural history will be remembered forever. Chief Minister expressed his deep sympathies to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. Chhattisgarh Governor Anandiben Patel also expressed her grief on the demise of Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi. Patel said that Late Pandit Shyamlal Chaturvedi has made a tremendous contribution to literature and culture of Chhattisgarh. He dedicated his entire life to the world of literature. His demise is an irreparable loss to the state. He would always be remembered as an inspiration in the world of Journalism. Governor has empathized with the grief-stricken family of late Chaturvedi and has prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace, she said.
