Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: As many as 1,205 complaints of breach of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) have been received till November 14 through the c-Vigil app. About 98% complaints have been resolved by the department officials till now, said a department official.
The official said that out of the total complaints, strict action was taken on 714 complaints while as many as 469 complaints were considered as invalid due to lack of evidence and incomplete information. Investigations are being held on 22 complaints which are regarding distribution of liquor, blankets, and unauthorized banners and posters.
On the basis of these complaints, FIR has been registered against all the accused along with the seizure of materials. Recently, a complaint about illegal distribution of liquor was received in Kataghora and Korba, where the liquors were seized on the spot and immediate action was taken by the officials against the accused, said the official.
The official said that the highest numbers of complaints received from across the state were regarding unauthorized banners and posters. Many people, who are registering the complaint regarding the breach of MCC through the c-Vigil app, are unable to send proper evidence, due to which complaints submitted are incomplete and therefore considered as invalid.
Besides, the maximum number of complaints—288— has been received from the state capital, followed by 135 in Durg district and 116 complaints in Raigarh district. Similarly, only six complaints were received from Balrampur district, which is the lowest, he said.
The official informed that a separate control room has been set up in the State Chief Electoral Officer’s office to resolve the complaints received on the c-Vigil app. Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo personally monitor the action being taken by the department officials on the complaints on daily basis.
