Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: State chief minister Raman Singh claimed that BJP is hoping to win about 14 seats in 18 constituencies where polling was held on Monday.
Talking to media persons at BJP office on Monday evening, Raman Singh said that BJP is hoping to win as many as 14 seats in Rajnandgaon and Bastar constituencies this time. In the last 2013 elections, BJP had won only four out of 12 seats in Bastar and two out of six seats in Rajnandgaon. The reports received after the first phase polling is very positive and BJP is likely to win more seats in the Bastar constituency this time.
Singh said BJP got very positive reports in the first phase only which is a good sign for the party candidates and workers as well. Now, BJP will compete with more enthusiasm and power in the second phase. The party workers are working hard and preparations are going on to achieve even better results in the second phase of state assembly elections.
Speaking on Congress allegations on BJP for tampering EVM machines, Singh said that the malfunction of the machine is not for the Congress alone, it’s for us too. I was in constant contact with the sources from Rajnandgaon and Bastar and BJP has also complained about the malfunctions in the EVM machines.
Singh said polling percentage in Narayanpur and Sukma was high which a good sign is for the party. The good thing about this is that this time there has been an increase of 2 to 3 per cent in women voter turnout in the polling in the first phase constituencies.
