Cabinet decision: New high-level committee to study various aspects of liquor ban, SIT probe into Nan Scam case

Raipur: In a major decision, the newly formed Congress government rejected a study report prepared by the 11-members committee for liquor ban during BJP regime in Chhattisgarh and instructed to form a new high-level committee to study various aspects of liquor ban.

A cabinet meeting was held on Tuesday at Mahanadi Bhawan in the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel where a number of important decisions were taken by the council of ministers. In a bid to impose a liquor ban, the cabinet decided to dismiss the previous report prepared by an 11-member study group of Commercial-Tax Department for liquor ban during the BJP regime. Stating the previous report as impractical, the cabinet decided to set up a new high profile study team which will submit the report within two months.

The cabinet also decided to constitute a special investigation team for detailed investigation of Nan scam which will be led by IG. A diary which was found during the investigation of the scam will be scrutinized especially the names on page 107. In the previous investigation, only six pages of the diary were under scrutiny. Besides, the format of Chhattisgarh Governor’s address was approved for the first session of the fifth assembly of the state which is going to be held in January 2019.

Besides, it was also decided by the council of ministers to rename state agricultural department as agriculture and farmer welfare department. Also as per the decision, the target of paddy procurement in the state will be increased by 20 percent than the last year.
