Durg: For convenience of female passengers and female railway employees a sanitary napkin vending machine has been installed in the female waiting hall of Durg Railway station.
The sanitary pad vending machine named “Happy Nari” has been installed by South East Central Railway Women Welfare Organisation (SECRWWO) Raipur unit, a part of railway women’s welfare central organization.
Besides the machine has been installed in Charoda PP Yard and Diesel Loco Shed for the convenience of female workers. One such machine was also installed at Raipur railway station in February this year. The machine has been installed in more than seven places across the state till now.
The sanitary pad vending machine is can be operated very easily even by the rural women. Besides the women cleaning personnel and supervisors have been informed and trained to use the machine, so that if someone is facing inconvenience using the machine, they can help.
The pad can be withdrawn from the machine at a nominal price of just Rs five. Also, there are two options in the machine one for normal pads and another for super quality pads. Two pads are delivered on selecting normal pad and on choosing super quality pad; one pad is delivered from the machine.
