Bhupesh Baghel-real hero of Congress in Chhattisgarh-Front runner’s for CM post

Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: State Congress President Bhupesh Baghel is a real hero of Congress Party who staunchly fought against cruel and corrupt Dr. Raman led BJP government without caring of repercussions and emerged as victor for Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC). Under the fireband politician’s leadership Congress unitedly fought and remained united during the whole battle, which is a big achievement resulted into historic win for Congress Party.
As a strong charismatic leader and dedicated soldier of Congress, he has always put forth his step raise public concern and related issues against the ruling BJP government. Baghel not only registered a record breaking win but also ensured andslide victory for Congress Party in the state assembly polls. The dynamic duo of Bhupesh Baghel and Leader of Opposition T S Singhdeo, the Congress finally managed to register a record breaking victory over BJP in the state.
Due to this landslide victory of Congress Party made 57-year-old Bhupesh Baghel is one of the front runners for the post of chief minister in Chhattisgarh.
Born on August 23, 1961 in Patan of Durg district, Baghel is one of the front runners for Cheif Minister’s post in the state. He has four children and his wife’s name is Mukteshwari Baghel. His parents are Bindeshwari Baghel and Nand Kumar Baghel.
Baghel started his political career under the guidance of his political guru late Chandulal Chandrakar in early 1980s. He joined Indian Youth Congress in 1985 and was President of the IYC Durg district (Rural) from 1990 to 1994. He was Vice President of Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress between 1994 and 1995).
He was elected to Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly consecutively in 1993 and 1998 from Patan. After the state of Chhattisgarh was created he became member of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in 2003 and in 2013 from the same assembly constituency. He was Indian National Congress candidate for Parliamentary elections in 2004 from Durg Lok Sabha seat and 2009 from Raipur. Baghel was appointed minister of state in Digvijay Singh’s cabinet (Public Grievance Dept. attached to the CM) in December, 1998 and promoted as Minister of Transport in December, 1999.
Baghel was appointed Chairman of MP State Road Transport Corporation in January, 2000. When the state of Chhattisgarh was created by the Government of India in November 2000, Baghel became first Minister for Revenue, Public Health Engineering and relief work.
Baghel was Deputy Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly from 2003 to 2008. Baghel has been the President of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee since October 2014.
