EC instructed that FIR will be lodged against them whoever clicked the photo of EVM machine during the voting process

Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: As per the instructions given by Chief Electoral Officer Chhattisgarh, an FIR will be lodged against them whoever clicked the photo of EVM machine during the voting. An incident took place at Kabirdham where a voter clicked a photo of EVM machine while voting and uploaded on the social media.
Chief Electoral officer’s office informed that “during the polling in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh a voter named Jairam Sahu took a photograph through his mobile phone while voting. The election commission has banned use of mobile phones inside polling station in legislative assembly elections 2018 in state only polling staffs can use mobile phones for sending reports through SMSes to the election authorities”
District Election Officer of Kabirdham, Avashin Kumar Sharan has taken cognizance of the act of making viral in social media by photographing an electronic voting machine while voting by Jairam Sahu. As per the directive of the District Election Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, of Kawardha constituency, Vipul Gupta, directed the Bodla police station in charge to register an FIR against Jairam Sahu. Sahu is a resident of village Podi of Bodla block. He hide mobile phone from the eyes of the security forces in the polling booth and taken photographs of it and also made it viral in social media. On this act, an FIR has registered, under the Election Rules and Public Representation Act, 1951 against Jairam Sahu.
According to the instructions issued by Chief Electoral Officer Chhattisgarh, under Rule 49M of Election Operations Rules 1961 and Section 128 of Public Representation, 1951, an assistant to vote for the blind, disabled person, It is bound to maintain confidentiality to whom he or she is voting. In case of violation there is a provision of 03 months’ imprisonment and penalty.
