Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: Congress party workers of Bemetara district staged strong protest in front of strong room of the district on Tuesday night, after seeing a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel using laptop near the strong room. Agitated Congress party workers demanded arrest of BSF personnel and an intensive investigation on the matter.
A Congress party worker who was involved in the inspection of strong room in the district said that he reached the strong room in Bemetara district— where EVMs of Bemetara, Saja and Nawagarh constituencies are kept— on Tuesday at around 6:40 pm for inspection. “When I looked into the monitor displaying CCTV footage of strong room, I saw a BSF jawan using laptop nearby the strong room. He said that he immediately informed district collector Mahadev Kavre over phone about the matter”, he said.
After receiving information a bunch of district Congress party workers gathered outside the strong room and staged a strong protest against the district administration over the lack of security in the Strong Room. They also raised slogans against the district administration for their carelessness.
An official said that amid receiving information, Kavre immediately rushed to the spot to inspect about the matter. After which the district superintendent of police along with a police team also reached on the spot after receiving information from the officials.
After inspecting about the matter the collector seized the laptop of the BSF personnel. Police says that strict action will be taken against the jawan after inquiry. More security personnel have been deployed outside the strong room for a tight security after the incident, said the police.
