Long queues of Unemployed youngsters seeking Jobs and Allowances(Bhatta) at the Rozgar Karyalaya

In a span of two months, more than 1.5 lakh unemployment youngsters around the state have registered for employment. The number of registered unemployed in the state soars as high as 22 lakhs. Long queues of unemployed youngsters seeking employment and unemployment allowances(bhatta) has become a common sight at Employment offices around the state.
According to the Employment and Self Employment Directorate, almost 1.5 employment registrations have been done recently in November and December. It’s noticeable that the number of unemployed youngsters in the state has suddenly spurt with the congress coming into power. The Congress Government has promised to provide the unemployed an unemployment allowance worth ₹2500. On the other hand, they have promised job openings in various Departments and opportunities for self employment. The allowances from the Government has provoked the youngsters to register themselves under the policy to avail the benefits.
Chhattisgarh Times was in conversation with unemployed job seekers at the Employment Office Raipur and received heterogeneous response from the people:-
If not employment than allowance.
“I’m 36 and an MA in Social Sciences. The State Government has increased the age limit for Government Jobs and has also come up with unemployment allowances. In such a case, it becomes crucial to get registered. If not for jobs one will certain become eligible for Unemployment Allowance.”

“I’m preparing of JEE after 12th. My father is a farmer and my education requires larger funds. In such situation ₹2500 as the unemployed allowances with be of significant help.”

“Be it Government Jobs or Self Employment, getting registered is necessary for both. My father is a tailor and the only earning member in the family. I hope to get a job and further support my family.”

“According to the information received from the Directorate, only 21,787 Government Jobs have been made available in the state for youngsters. After the declaration of new employment opportunities and unemployment allowances, the number of candidates to register as unemployed has risen drastically.”
